E-Safety in the Community and Classroom 2016 - 2017

Last year we opened our doors to the community. Parents and granparents were invited in for an open afternoon where they could take part in their child's e-safety lessons. There were a variety of lessons going on throughout the school ranging from song writing, performing raps, games, role-play and drama, creating cartoons and animations. These activities were all linked to staying safe on-line. We then offered the parents and grandparents for an afternoon of tea, home-made cakes and performances from their children/grandchildren. After lots of positive feedback, we plan to make this an annual event. Below you can see a selection of photos.

At St Mary's, we believe that Learning about e-safety is a vital life skill. Empowering children at an early age with the knowledge to safeguard themselves and their personal information is something that needs to be nurtured throughout school to see them into adult life. We have embedded e-safety into our curriculum and below you can see a selection of photographs taken from a range of e-safety lessons.

Although St Mary's signed up for the e-safety award in 2012, our e-safety teaching and learning had been going on for many years before that.  An example of a video that Year 6 children made in 2009 is below, along with some animated work carried out in 2013.
